Chet was a sweet boy who was released to a shelter because "they couldn't afford to pay the redemption fee". Chet had noted problems passing stool at the shelter so we immediately took him to a full service vet. He saw specialists, we tried everything under the sun to help him but since he went untreated for anal fistulas for too long, he was not able to recover. We shed many tears for his as he was a super sweet dog with a great temperament! He fit in so well at our home and would have made a great first time GSD owner....we miss him every day.
We wanted to share with you all that we had to say goodbye to our big boy Chief. He was in our family for over 10 yrs. We picked him out at a Reston Town Center adoption day because of his spunk and big bark. He went to Dog Heaven 11/27/17 and is now roaming happy with his sister shepherd, Jesebelle. He was beloved by 4 human siblings and his parents. He loved being groomed, belly rubbed and back scratched. He loved howling with his human family. He loved treats and trips to the coast of Maine where he’d soak up the warm sun and sea air, chase seagulls and splash through the cold lagoon or pond or ride in a kayak. He was our protector, barking at anything passing by our house and made the landing of our staircase his favorite look out spot. His big puffs of fur are fondly missed even though none of us liked vacuuming all the time. Cancer sucks. We will miss his dearly. Suzanne

VGSR'S Siegfried von Brown, aka Siggy, (originally known as Clinton) tag number 3606, went to the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at approximately 12:45 pm. His back end stopped working and he was having trouble breathing at the end. He was 8 years and 4 months old, and we adopted him from VGSR in June of 2014. Thank you to Pam and Jeff Wilson for fostering him. Siggy was a delight in every way. As a puppy he was very mouthy and would express himself by chewing on things, but time and training cured that. He passed Novice obedience and earned his Canine Good Citizen title (level 1). He was the essence of love. Everyone loved Siggy and he loved everyone except the feral cats and some Airedales. Siggy is survived by his heartbroken family, Risa Lapidow and Jeff Brown, his equally heartbroken petsitter, De Fields, and many friends at the vet and his daycare.
Cutie came into rescue as a senior 2/4/13 and passed 3/26/13. She was a spunky old girl with the softest fur. She loved to be the center of attention all the time and was until she passed in foster care. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
