Sarge is a stunning and one of the sweetest, most affectionate, and devoted companions you’ll ever meet! Following life as a stray and rescue from an overcrowded rural shelter, he entered foster care and a new beginning. Sarge cried most of the first week but has been settling in since. His favorites are treats, walks, car rides, and belly rubs. Most of all, he wants to be with his people and bonds closely. He is very smart and eager to learn, great on leash, treat motivated, and house trained. He enjoys getting brushed; has no issues with nail trims, ear cleanings, or baths; and well-mannered at the vet. Sarge was initially guarded/reserved around other dogs but comfortable with slow introductions. He has a high prey drive and likely not compatible with cats or other small animals. He is working through separation anxiety with a departing routine but will likely need the same in his forever home. Sarge needs continued socialization, exercise, and boundaries. He needs time and attention and lots of opportunities to channel his energy mentally and physically. Everyone who meets Sarge is taken with him--he is a treasure!
