Keiko 6388's Sponsorship Page
Meet Keiko!! Keiko was saved by VGSR in her last hour before she was to be euthanized. Due to shelters being overwhelmed with intakes and her stray hold was up. Why her owners never came looking for her always puzzles me. Keiko has a beautiful gentle loving personality. A shelter volunteer brought her to my work and dogs are allowed in my job so I immediately brought her in and she went up to all our customers to greet them like she never met a stranger. That speaks volumes just coming from a full overcrowded shelter. We left and headed to the house to meet her new foster four legged siblings. Honestly it was probably one of my easiest introductions of my entire time fostering. She has such a beautiful soul that she just was hi all thank you for letting me stay here while I find my forever home. Just precious. Keiko has some skin issues particularly on her face and ears that we will be partnering with our vet clinic to find out how to help her best. Once we get her vetted and spayed she will be available for a lucky family to adopt her. Updates to follow. Keiko was diagnosed with Pemphigus Foliaceous an autoimmune disease. Keiko’s immune system attacks desmosomes. Basically it attacks the protein that hold skin cells together. Pemphigus is rare but common autoimmune disease in dogs that causes symmetrical lesions, scabs, and hair loss Keiko is currently being treated with prednisone and cyclosporine, She definitely feels better and her energy level has increased. She absolutely adores to play ball, she gets so excited she jumps She also has recently started playing with her foster brother Cooper They played a great game of you chase me around the yard then I’ll chase you until they tuckered each other out Keiko so deserves a family of her very own!
