Henry County Puppy 7 - Snowflake 6747

4/26/2024 - Snowflake had her final rounds of vaccinations and can start her public socialization in 2 weeks' time. She is still under observation for Giardia as she still tested positive, but as she is not actively shedding any cysts, the vet recommended a high-end diet and probiotics for right now. Her hookworms are being eradicated with biweekly medication for another 2 months. She is a happy-go-lucky mischievous little girl who likes to test her boundaries when she is not busy eating, playing or sleeping. We cannot wait to introduce her to the world around her and see how she reacts! Snowflake is being fostered in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Approved adopters can contact her foster at rumpf.vgsr@gmail.com. Please also consider all the other puppies and dogs who are on our website and who may be a great fit for you!

Good news: Snowflake is finally putting on some weight! She is still on medication and has to go back to the vet to make sure all those nasty internal parasites are gone, and she needs to get some more vaccinations, but she seems to be on the right track. Snowflake is the littermate of Barkley, Gabbie and Murphy, the older litter from Henry County. She may have been the runt of that litter from the looks of it, but what she does not (yet) have in size, she makes up in feistiness! As she is the only puppy in our household, she has chosen our 95-pound 3-year old male GSD as big brother, protector and jungle gym. And he loves every second of it. She has high separation anxiety and unfortunately gets car sick every time she goes for a ride (no fun considering all of these trips are to the vet!), but we hope that with time both of those things will diminish. She loves to be outside rolling around in a patch of grass and collecting sticks, sticks, sticks! Like most puppies, she has a shoe fetish and steals every single toy her brother has. She is almost completely housetrained and will let us know when she has to go potty. She will need to have another active and friendly dog in the house and somebody who is home most of the time and can give her the socialization and training she needs to become the great dog she is destined to be. Approved adopters can contact her foster at rumpf.vgsr@gmail.com. Please also consider all the other puppies and dogs who are on our website and who may be a great fit for you!

Unfortunately Snowflake is still battling hookworms, giardia and coccidia. Despite this, she is a spunky puppy who is very curious about the world around her and has taken to living in a house like a pro. More details to follow once she is healthier.

03/24/2004 Coming Soon: Little Snowflake is one of 9 puppies brought into VGSR who had been dumped in the woods.  Unfortunately, 4 of these puppies were diagnosed with Parvo (please check our Facebook page for details). Luckily Snowflake was not one of them, but she had a severe infestation of hookworms which put her in the vet ER for a night, and she is still battling gastrointestinal issues. She needs a checkup, all her vaccinations and then a plan to gain some much-needed weight before being available for adoption. Please check back soon for updates!
