My story is one I am sure you have heard before. I was still very young when I found myself out on the street, making decisions for myself; and not always good ones, I have to admit. I hooked up with a smooth talker and next thing I knew I was raising 8 babies on my own and did a good job, if I do say so myself. It was a great one-time-only experience but the last one is ready to go out on her own now. Some Moms are sad when the nest is empty but not me. The way I see it, I am free to live my own life, and let me tell you, I am ready!
Those babies did a number on me but I am going to get my girlish figure back ASAP because I am a young girl and I have everything going for me. I am smart, pretty, sweet and loving but I am not a pushover. If you ask me nicely I will do all kinds of things for you. I know what you want from me when you say sit, down, stay, shake and kisses. That’s right, I give kisses on demand, or any other time a face gets close enough. I am a kissing machine; I should have my own booth at the fair.
Now, I seriously love me some people; and that includes every single one I meet. I do not care if they are a man, woman or child; old, young, tall or short. If they have got two legs I am in love - with one exception. If two legs try to come into my house before somebody tells me it’s okay, I use my Shepherd voice to make some serious noise. Oh, yeah, I can handle that situation so my people are always safe. When they go to work they leave me in the house and I make sure nobody comes in. They know they can trust me to see that everything in our house stays just the way they left it; there is no mess on the floor and everything is in its place. They always tell me I did a great job!
I am happy at home but one of my favorite times is when my people go somewhere and I get to go with them! I can hardly wait to jump into the car and find myself a good spot to lie down in. Going for a ride is soooo relaxing I get real quiet and when they think I am sleeping I listen to my people talk about how much they love me and what a good girl I am. Ok, ok, I admit, sometimes I take a nap but it’s only because I am so happy and my people are safe because I know exactly where they are.
One downside to spending so much time with my wonderful people (if there IS a downside to that) is that I have had very few chances to meet other dogs (not counting the babies’ daddy, the bum). After that experience I am wary of new dogs but I’d really love to make a friend so I am working on my social skills with other big dogs, but I will never be friends with little dogs, or cats, or bunnies or anything else their size. They all look like toys to me, if you know what I mean. If you’d like a dog who will love you until the cows come home and make you the center of the universe, I’m your girl. If you have another big dog in the house, we can talk about it but I’m not sure I can share the universe with just anybody. Anything else and, I am sorry if I seem rude, but I just do not see our relationship working out. No matter how hard I try or promise to behave, one day I’d slip up and, well, let’s just say there’d be one less member of the family. I attend all adoption events in the Hampton Roads area and would love to meet you. I am saving a kiss just for you!
