About Jolie
Status: Adopted!
Species: Dog
Ear Type: Natural/Uncropped
Hi everyone, I'm Jolie, the 5 lb lap dog. Wait, what do you mean I'm not 5 lbs? I'm 50 lbs?!?! No wonder my foster mom groans every time I try to climb into her lap. It's my favorite thing to do, I love cuddling with her, sitting next to her for pets, looking adoring into her eyes as she pets me, trying to climb into her lap for more cuddles, giving kisses... I'm living with a 3 year old boy dog, I love playing with him! I'm also living with a kitty, I'm pretty curious about her but she doesn't seem to like me very much. In my previous home I lived with a 3 year old human puppy, and I was extremely gentle and sweet with her (it helped that she shared her Cheerios with me). I am a total velcro dog, I have to follow my foster mom from room to room no matter what she's doing! I love food and toys, so I should be a breeze to train, and I'm pretty smart, if I do say so myself, but my foster mom tells me I have lots of puppy energy and puppy manners. We are working on that though, and I love to learn and interact with my people so my adoptive family should continue with some sort of obedience courses. I haven't seen too much of the world, but my foster mom and I go out every day so I can meet new people, see new sights, sniff new scents, and experience new places - it's a lot of fun so I hope my adoptive family continues with socialization. I'm housebroken, and I'm working on getting crate trained; at first I hated it and cried allll night but I'm starting to think it's actually a nice little den for me to go back to and sleep in when I'm tired. I'm scheduled to be spayed soon, and I have a wound on my tail that requires treatment, and possibly amputation of a few inches on the tip (but my foster mom and my doctor are trying hard to save it), so I'll be available for adoption when I'm fully vetted. But I'm otherwise healthy, and I have a ton of energy and love to give, I just need a little guidance and a family to call my own! Please check out our web site at www.shepherdrescue.org for more information about our dogs, our adoption process and to download an application. You must have a fully approved application on file prior to privately meeting our dogs. We do not have a facility, all our dogs are housed in private foster homes throughout MD/DC/VA areas. More information available on our web site, so please read through our web site before emailing questions, as it might save us both some time! VGSR can only adopt dogs out in the Virginia/Maryland/DC area, no exceptions. Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security. The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $250.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed.
