10/13/25. Ruby came into the shelter as an owner surrender. The owner inherited Ruby with the house he purchased, as the previous owners left her there.   Ruby was very scared when arriving at the shelter, but within just a few minutes, she was eating food out of the volunteer's hand and was ready for a walk.  Based on information the shelter was given about Ruby, she is probably around 6 years old, estimating her to be 65 lbs. She did well with her meet and greet with another female.  Ruby has not had a great life; from what the volunteer gathered from a neighbor, Ruby had been in the neighborhood since 2020.  The neighbor said she was grown when she showed up.  She said Ruby came to her house first, and Animal Control never came to pick her up, so Ruby went next door.  The neighbor said the man never really cared for her.  She was out in all weather, with no dog house.  He moved and left her. Ruby deserves better; she deserves to have a family that will cherish and love her.

Ruby is a very sweet girl. She walks very well on a leash with no pulling at all. She is very gentle and is great with every dog that she meets. In the short time that I have had Ruby, she has begun to come out of her shell and blossom. She is learning to trust and has been quite affectionate. She is underweight, and her appetite is slowly increasing. Ruby is a total love bug. More to come on her as we progress.
