8/5/25. Ruger is at a great age; he is very smart and proud of himself and still has puppy energy. Ruger is crate trained and housebroken; he is non-destructive, though he is still curious. Ruger has learned some basic training commands; he can sit, shake paw, lay down, etc. With the proper training, Ruger could be a great working dog and has responded well to some recall training so far. Ruger is a world-class frisbee fetcher, though he still needs work on basic manners while playing. Ruger is 80 lbs, and he is lean; he needs to pack on some pounds and get consistent exercise. He has a lot of energy and needs an outlet for it. We have found he does well on walks, but they are not stimulating enough for him. To really get his energy out, he needs to run! Ruger is a sweet dog that will try to sit on your lap while you work in the office chair; he will try to sleep in the bed with you, he will watch movies with you, and rest his big head in your lap. He loves to cuddle and can seemingly fall asleep in any position you could imagine. Ruger is incredibly tolerant of our cat; he is also incredibly curious and follows her around the house, which leads to some hisses. If you have a more tolerant cat, I am sure they will be cuddling within a week. Overall, he is a great dog at a great age and just needs consistency and direction.
