4/11/2024 - Well we have wonderful news today. Our handsome Cooper is no longer shedding parvo! He is a recovered pup. Thank you to everyone tha donated to his care and those that provided sponsorship! We will need to restart all his puppy shots and dewormers but compared to parvo - that's a piece of cake. Current plan is to get his first shot next week. The vet wanted to give a week just to let his body recover a little more. We are so very proud of sweet Cooper. He'll be available for adoption after that but the adopter will be responsible for any outstanding vaccinations. H e is very gentle and submissive so careful home selection will be needed.

3/21/2024 - Handsome Cooper arrived at his foster home on March 8th. One of 9 puppies brought into VGSR who had been dumped in the woods.  Here is the local news story: - https://www.wdbj7.com/2024/03/21/11-german-shepherd-puppies-rescued-after-being-abandoned-woods/?fbclid=IwAR1RccroS5f1kh-m0ClmdvHA5xt88M2GeNUwsRlVQ0yoEF8ke2PIRCFDVdw

Although initially tested for parvo and found negative, just days later symptoms showed up and he went to the ER where parvo was confirmed. He is now fighting hard to stay alive and we are hopeful he will win this fight. Unfortunately, costs associated with parvo are extremely high as they require isolation rooms, special medication and 24hr monitoring. If you've ever had to take a pet to the ER you know what I am talking about. As you know, VGSR stands behind all the pups brought into the rescue and will be there to support little Cooper as long he keeps fighting to live.

For those that are not aware, Parvo if left untreated has a 90% kill rate. Help us save this handsome fella! For more info on parvo please go to  https://canineparvovirus.org/survival-rate/

Please help save Cooper so he can find his forever home. For status updates please checkout VGSR's Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/VAGSR
