Zeus was picked up as a stray in a rural area in South Carolina. Due to overcapacity at the shelter he was at high risk of euthanasia. Thanks to the efforts of many individuals Zeus took his freedom flight on October 6th to his foster home. He is a very lovable boy who loves to be close to his person. He is excitable especially when he is getting one on one attention. He does have separation anxiety which is managable. He would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time. Zeus lived with a large dog and a toddler who he reportedly did well with in the home. Zeus does not like sudden movements most likely due to his anxiety. He would be most comfortable with older considerate kids. Zeus is fully trained with the underground fence system. He enjoys his walks exploring his new environment. He is patient on the leash with minimal reminders and seems to be a happy boy in spite of his former uncertain fate. According to volunteers and staff at the shelter Zeus did well and got along with other dogs. He lives with a resident cat who he ignores for the most part. He is being crate trained currently. Zeus is neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on all vaccines. He tested positive for heartworm on August 11, 2023 and received treatment following the diagnosis.
