10/01/23 Artemis is a GSD/mix puppy born mid-April. She was adopted and returned because of no fault of her own. She is being fostered in Arlington 22204. She is crate trained but not completely potty trained. She walks ok on a leash, although she could use some improvement. She has not demonstrated any separation anxiety with the caveat that I’m rarely away from home longer than 3-4 hrs at a time.

Her mom is a purebred GSD, her dad is said to be a Husky/GSD mix. She is mostly blond with a black mask and slightly darker blond blanket, hardly visible in the pictures. Current weight is 32 lbs. At a guess, I’d say she’ll grow to 50 lbs or more.

Like all puppies, Artemis eats, drinks, poops, and pees a lot. She also likes to chew on my shoes and slippers, walk underfoot, create mischief, get into anything that smells like food, and generally do the things you’d expect from a healthy, energetic puppy. Overall, she seems outgoing and food motivated.

Currently, Artemis lives with a mature 85 lbs GSD male and a 62 lbs GSD female (my foster Betty 6305). She gets along with both and plays with both. Playing with other dogs or with humans is something she really enjoys.

Artemis is up to date on shots and on preventives but is too young to be spayed.

Artemis usually participates in the Potomac Yard Adoption Event.

Artemis’s ideal adopter(s) would be an active person/family with some GSD experience and preferably puppy/young dog experience. Previous VGSR adopters welcome. She needs to be taught manners and would definitely benefit from obedience training down the road.

Artemis is unknown with cats and I have no way of testing her. I have not tested her with children, but keep in mind that she has a tendency to jump on people will nibble on human flesh unless corrected.
