4/2/20 Meet Ranger! He has a wonderful temperament. He is sweet, gentle and loving. He is very much a velcro dog. Ranger is young and moderately energetic but he is a big couch potato and loves nothing more than a good nap curled up next to his humans!

Ranger was seen by the vet this week and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia but it hasn't slowed him down one bit! Ranger is VERY mobile!! If allowed, Ranger would run and chase birds and squirrels endlessly. He flies up and down our stairs.  Ranger will need someone who can take him for short, slow walks to help strengthen the muscles in his back legs. The good news for Ranger is that his knees look good and his blood work was excellent!!! Woohoo!!

Ranger knows basic commands, listens good and takes correction well. He has a high prey drive and attempted to jump our 6 foot fence when he saw the neighbor's small dog.  He will needed continued work reinforcing obedience and socialization with dogs. Ranger has shown signs of separation anxiety and does not do well in a crate if he is alone.  Ranger is a low-key dog that just wants to give lots of love and receive lots of snuggles in return!

4/21/2020 Ranger was seen by an orthopedic specialist. Ranger is happy, healthy and surgery is not recommended at this time and may never be needed! The specialist said that although Ranger does have hip dysplasia and some arthritis, he is very strong and does not seem to have a lot of pain in his legs! Ranger likely had the hip dysplasia as a puppy and as he grew his joints/bones didn’t form correctly causing his legs to develop abnormally, leading to his unique posture. Ranger can run and play like any other dog within his own limits! He needs to be exercised by walks and kept lean. Ranger has been on a glucosamine supplement and will need to continue to be on supplements.

5/10/20 Ranger has been with us for 6 weeks and he is such a joy to have around. He walks into his crate very easily and is improving gradually on calming down. He loves going outside. He is not toy driven and he adores his daily naps. He is a comedian and his mission is to chase glares and reflections that hit the ground! He will make a very loyal companion. Ranger would do best with a family that has the ability to be home with him often. We are working on his leash manners.

6/26/20 Ranger continues to be a complete sweetheart!! He has drastically improved on calming down in his crate with his thunder jacket, his comfy crate mat and a pillow! We have learned that Ranger would likely be best as an only dog. This beautiful boy is ready for his fur-ever family! If you are an approved adopter and think Ranger sounds as awesome as we do, contact his foster at gsd2020k9@gmail.com.
