Boomer is a sweet 3 year old boy. He was surrendered when his family was unable to address his developing tendency to be protective in the home. He has been good in my home and I have not seen this issue. He is currently living with two other young dogs and is the quiet, submissive one of the group. He has a very sweet disposition, and likes to be your shadow. I have had him around horses, cows, other dogs, barn cats and he has been good and respectful. He will walk up and smell cats and has watched them run off, I've not seen him try to chase or bug them. I have not seen him with any indoor cats to know if he would be ok living with one. When he picks his person, he is glued to your side.  We do not need to keep him on leash as he stays by our side. He wakes us up in the morning by jumping in bed and burying his face for pets and rubs all over you. When playing with our other dogs he will stop and check in with you and make sure everything is ok before continuing. He definitely is more wary of strangers if they are men but he has shown no aggression what so ever. When at home he usually just hangs out in his crate with the door open and keeps to himself, or snuggles up on the bed with us. He loves playing with sticks. The longer we have this boy the more he perks up and a goofy personality is shining. He is shy and reserved and keeps to himself getting to know new people but he truly is a goofy loving boy.

He did test positive for heartworm 8/19/2020 and is receiving treatment. He also had a case of happy tail, so he had the tip of his tail removed. He is underweight at this time and we are working on bulking him up.

Ideal Home:  Boomer is a sweet character and would thrive with a leader able to help him build his confidence and provide a happy environment to set him up for success. Boomer just wants to be loved and be the best right hand man! He will gladly snuggle up with you to watch a good movie, and is happy to go on car rides and run errands! I think he would thrive as the only dog in the home, but he is happy to coexist with other dogs as well. You can just tell he would like to be the center of attention. He loves the farm life and I think would best enjoy a lifestyle where he spends a lot of time outside with his person.
