Special Funds

In addition to donations which support our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, forever homes for wonderful and deserving dogs in need, VGSR has three specialized Funds described below:

Ginger's Fund

Ginger's Fund was created in memory of Sheila G., a long-time VGSR volunteer. This fund, named after one of Sheila's favorite fosters, is used specifically to help some of the old, the sick or the special needs dogs who come into VGSR's care. As you would expect, these dogs may have higher medical and rehabilitative costs and require extended stays in foster care before they are ready for adoption.

 Max's Fund

Max's Fund was created in memory of a dog named Max, who very much needed  rehabilitation and training. After being seized by the courts from a neglectful owner, Max was  considered to be too aggressive to adopt out. VGSR stepped in to save him from euthanasia  and rehabilitate him, giving him a chance at a wonderful home, which is just what Max got!  Max's fund allows for other dogs like Max to be saved by rehabilitation and training, and  provide a good life ahead of them. Please consider donating to this worthy fund.

Josie's Fund

Josie's fund provides financial assistance for the care of pets whose owners, because of special circumstances, are unable to afford the expense (i.e. spay/neuter; food; medical care; boarding). Examples of support this fund has provided include helping when short term support was needed due to job/income loss; assisting when a divorce and temporary move necessitated boarding the dog; supporting a woman who was forced to move to a shelter and providing for the dog until she was back on her feet; or providing for a dog when a family was having a major medical issue and paying for dog walkers, etc.
